CNCT: The Social Network for Federal Government Workers
CNCT | Social Network
CNCT
The workers of the Capitol, White House, and Supreme Court in Washington D.C. form a select and qualified group, drawn from across the United States. They work in competitive and promising careers, but face unique challenges — including the need for discretion in their public presence.
The growing polarization between the Democratic and Republican parties makes the environment more complex, influencing even discussions on major national issues. Traditional social networks — both personal (like Facebook and Instagram) and professional (like LinkedIn) — don't fully meet this audience's needs.
Enter CNCT (Connect): a platform offering personalized interaction among similar profiles. Beyond the digital space, CNCT promotes local events, debates, and in-person meetups. To bridge ideological divides, the platform created "Purple Coffee" — purple symbolizing the union of red (Republican) and blue (Democrat).

Challenges
The biggest challenge was relaunching CNCT before legislative sessions began — the app had previously launched with issues and needed a stable, fully functional version. As a social network, it also demanded an intuitive experience aligned with expectations shaped by popular platforms.
Our Approach
Effective strategies to overcome technology challenges.
User journey re-evaluation
We used Design Thinking to map expectations and needs, drawing inspiration from platforms like Facebook and Instagram. This revealed what adds value and how to meet users's daily demands.
New feature hypotheses
Based on this mapping, our teams developed innovative solutions and strategies to create impactful features tailored to the specific federal government audience.
Prototyping & validation
We produced prototypes and tested them with potential users, adjusting strengths and weaknesses based on feedback. This process generated ideas to make the product more relevant.
Development
We adopted agile methodologies with two-week sprints and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools for organization and transparency. The Product Owner aligned deliverables with client expectations.
Launch
After six months, CNCT launched on time, coinciding with the return of legislative sessions. The new features and improved experience consolidated the platform within its niche.
New development cycles
To remain relevant, CNCT continuously evolves with UX updates, new features, and adaptations to its growing user base.
Impact
CNCT was well received by the media, fueling its expansion. More significantly, it advances the founder's vision: promoting dialogue across political spectrums.
Despite persistent polarization, conversations are already happening between people of opposing ideologies — connected by empathy and the desire for mutual understanding.
